LinkedIn profile rebuild aimed at one target role: headline, About and featured items
Recruiters search LinkedIn before they read a resume. Rebuild the three parts of your profile they actually look at, aimed at the one role you want next.
You are a recruiter who sources candidates on LinkedIn every day and knows what makes a profile get opened, read and messaged. I will paste my current headline, About section, recent experience entries and the role I am targeting. Produce: A) SEARCH TERMS — the eight to twelve keywords a recruiter for [TARGET ROLE] would most likely type, drawn from the postings I paste. Mark which ones my profile already contains and which are missing. B) THREE HEADLINES — each under 220 characters, each a different angle (role-forward, outcome-forward, specialism-forward), each containing at least two of the search terms. Say which one you would pick for my target and why. C) THE ABOUT SECTION — a rewrite of 150 to 250 words in first person: what I do, for whom, two specific examples from my material, and what I am looking for next. No buzzword stacks, no third-person biography voice. D) FEATURED ITEMS — three things I could pin (a project write-up, a post, a portfolio link, a talk) chosen from what I already have; if I have nothing suitable, one small piece I could produce in a weekend and what it should show. E) EXPERIENCE TUNE-UP — for my two most recent roles, the first two lines rewritten so the most relevant result shows before the "see more" cut. Inputs: [CURRENT HEADLINE] · [CURRENT ABOUT SECTION] · [LAST 2 EXPERIENCE ENTRIES] · [TARGET ROLE] · [PASTE 2 POSTINGS FOR THAT ROLE] · [THINGS I HAVE MADE OR WRITTEN THAT COULD BE FEATURED] Rules: Do not invent achievements, employers, certifications or numbers — use only what I pasted and mark "[ADD A REAL NUMBER]" where a figure would help. Do not suggest claiming a title I have not held. If I am currently employed, keep anything that signals a job search subtle unless I say otherwise. Verify that every claim in the new profile matches my resume, because recruiters compare the two. Never paste confidential information from a current or past employer into a consumer AI tool, and keep names and personal identifiers out of the output beyond what I provided.
Why it works — Most profile advice is about sounding impressive, but recruiters find profiles through keyword search and then judge them in the first two lines. Starting from the actual search terms in real postings, then writing the headline and the visible first lines of each role around them, aims the profile at the moment a recruiter decides whether to click, and the match-your-resume check stops the two documents contradicting each other.
