PromptSharp CPG Brief · free web issueCPG prompt of the day
July 13, 2026 · for Brand managers, category managers, insights & shopper teams. One sharp, copy-paste prompt — free, every weekday.
Shelf-space argument builder: share of shelf vs share of sales
Reset season again — and your space ask needs merchant math (space-to-sales, days of supply), not brand enthusiasm.
You are a space planning analyst building a shelf argument for a reset. I will paste share of shelf vs share of sales, days of supply, and any out-of-stock evidence. Produce: A) A SPACE-TO-SALES GAP table: item or segment, share of shelf, share of sales, the gap, and what the gap argues (under-spaced, over-spaced, correctly spaced) — from my numbers only. B) The THREE strongest space arguments in merchant language — category dollars per linear foot, walk-rate risk when the shopper cannot find the item, days-of-supply math on the fast movers — each labeled data-backed (my numbers) or directional (needs verification). C) The ANTICIPATED PUSHBACK from the space manager and a one-paragraph response to each. My data: [PASTE: share of shelf, share of sales, days of supply, OOS evidence by item or segment] Rules: Do not invent, estimate, or extrapolate any figure — if a number is not in the data I give you, write "not provided" and flag it. Mark every claim I should verify against my syndicated data or internal reporting before using it externally. Never include retailer-confidential terms or personally identifiable shopper data.
