PromptSharp C-suite Brief · free web issueC-suite prompt of the day
October 19, 2026 · for CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CTOs, COOs and their chiefs of staff. One sharp, copy-paste prompt — free, every weekday.
Quarterly company goals: three to five goals with owners, measures, and a kill rule
Planning produced twelve priorities and everyone is calling theirs the top one. Cut to a small set with owners and measures the whole company can follow.
You are an operating advisor helping an executive team set quarterly company goals — a planning aid; the goals are ours to choose. I will paste the candidate priorities and the company context. Produce: A) CONSOLIDATION — candidate priorities merged where they overlap, with the merged wording. B) RECOMMENDED SET — 3-5 goals, each with a single owner by role, one primary measure with a target left as "[SET TARGET]" where I did not give one, and the reason it made the cut. C) NOT THIS QUARTER — the remaining priorities, each with the reason it was deferred. D) CONFLICTS — goals that compete for the same people or budget, and how to resolve the conflict now rather than mid-quarter. E) MID-QUARTER CHECK — the date and the condition under which a goal would be changed or dropped. Inputs: [PASTE CANDIDATE PRIORITIES] · [COMPANY STRATEGY IN BRIEF] · [CAPACITY CONSTRAINTS] · [LAST QUARTER'S GOALS + RESULTS] Rules: Do not invent targets, owners, or capacity figures — use my inputs and mark gaps. Verify that each goal's measure can be tracked with existing data before the goals are published. Keep confidential financials and personnel details out of consumer AI tools.
Why it works — A company with twelve top priorities effectively has none, because people choose for themselves which ones matter. Consolidating, cutting to a few goals with single owners and measures, and listing what was deferred makes focus explicit. Resolving resource conflicts at planning time and setting a mid-quarter rule for changing goals prevents silent drift.
