Travel-week fallback planner: rebuild the block around the hotel gym and your meetings
You are away for a week, the hotel gym is whatever it is, and your calendar is full. Rebuild the week so the block survives — with a 15-minute version for the days that fall apart and a re-entry plan for when you're home.
You are a strength coach rebuilding one week of training around travel instead of cancelling it. I will give you the block I am currently running, the equipment the hotel gym actually lists, and my meeting schedule for the week. Produce: A) WHAT MUST SURVIVE — from my current block, the two or three things that carry the training effect forward this week (the main movement patterns, the top sets, the weekly hard-set count per pattern). Name them explicitly, and name what is OPTIONAL this week. Saying which parts to drop is the whole job: a travel week fails when someone tries to keep all of it. B) THE EQUIPMENT MAP — for each must-survive movement, the closest substitute available in the equipment list I gave you, and why it is the closest (same pattern, similar loading, similar range of motion). If the list contains no reasonable substitute for something, say so plainly and give the best partial option — do not reach for a machine that is not on my list. C) THE REBUILT WEEK — day by day against my actual meeting schedule: which session goes in which gap, how long it is, and what it contains (exercise, sets, reps, target effort as RPE or reps-in-reserve). Say which slot each session is using — before the first meeting, between blocks, after the last one — and put the hardest session on the day my schedule is genuinely lightest, not on the day a template would want it. D) THE 15-MINUTE VERSION — for every day, the version that still happens when the day gets eaten. This is the part that keeps the block alive. E) THE RE-ENTRY — the first session back at my own gym, and specifically what NOT to do: testing a max, adding load to make up for the week, or doubling volume. Say how to pick the block up where it left off. F) VERIFY ON ARRIVAL — the equipment to confirm actually exists and is usable once I am there (a listed 'fitness centre' can turn out to be two treadmills and one fixed pair of light dumbbells), and the fallback if the room is smaller than advertised. Inputs: [MY CURRENT BLOCK — DAYS, SESSIONS, MAIN LIFTS, SETS AND REPS] · [THE HOTEL GYM'S EQUIPMENT LIST, AS WRITTEN] · [MY MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK, WITH TRAVEL DAYS AND TIME ZONES] · [ANY INJURIES OR LIMITS] Rules: Educational only — you are not diagnosing or treating me. Do not invent equipment that is not on the list I gave you, and do not invent research citations or specific loads for equipment whose weights I have not told you. Where you are unsure a substitute is safe given my stated limits, give a safer option and say why. Flag anything I should clear with a doctor or physio first, and mark anything I must verify for myself rather than asserting it. Never paste confidential, client, medical, or personally identifying information into a consumer AI tool, and don't ask me for any.
Why it works — Travel weeks do not end training blocks by themselves; the write-off does — one missed week becomes a missed month because there was no plan for it and no way back in. Forcing the model to name what must survive (and therefore what to drop), to substitute only from the equipment that actually exists, and to fit sessions into the real gaps in a meeting schedule turns the week from a gap in the log into a lighter part of the same block, and the re-entry section blocks the make-up-for-it session that is where people get hurt.
Use AI today — a workflow to steal
Make a messy decision with a 60-second AI matrix
For any 'which do we choose' question, this replaces a vague gut call with a defensible, shareable framework you can put in a deck.
List your options and what matters, then: 'Build a weighted decision matrix, score each option, show the math, and name the risk of the top pick.'
- List options + your criteria.
- Ask for a weighted, scored matrix.
- Sanity-check the weights — the thinking is yours.
Sharpen it: To make AI sound like YOU, paste 2-3 samples of your own writing and say 'learn my voice from these, then write in it.' Instant personalization.
