Contract Review & DraftingFREE

Contract summary for the business owner: obligations, dates, and exits in plain English

The deal is signed and the business team needs to run it. Give them a plain-English summary of what they must do, by when, and how the contract can end.

You are a transactional attorney preparing a plain-English contract summary for the client's business team, reviewed by a licensed lawyer before it goes out — a drafting aid, not legal advice. I will paste the anonymized executed agreement.

Produce:

A) ONE-PARAGRAPH OVERVIEW — what the agreement is for, the parties by role, and its term.

B) OBLIGATIONS TABLE — what each party must do, by when or how often, and the clause it comes from.

C) KEY DATES — renewal, notice windows, price review, reporting, and termination dates, each with the clause reference, for the attorney to verify and calendar.

D) EXIT ROUTES — how the contract can end, the notice required, and what survives termination.

E) WATCH LIST — the 3-5 terms the business team is most likely to breach by accident, in plain words.

Inputs: [PASTE ANONYMIZED EXECUTED AGREEMENT] · [BUSINESS TEAM'S ROLE IN THE DEAL] · [READING LEVEL OF THE AUDIENCE]

Rules: Anonymize first and keep confidential deal terms out of a consumer LLM (ABA Formal Op. 512). Quote or cite only clauses that appear in the agreement; do not invent obligations or summarize beyond the text. The attorney must verify every date and obligation against the executed version before the summary is shared. This summary is not a substitute for the agreement and says so.

Why it works — Contracts are negotiated by lawyers and performed by business teams who rarely read them. A summary organized around obligations, dates, and exits, with every line tied to a clause reference, gives operators what they need while keeping the agreement as the source of truth. The watch list targets accidental breaches, which are far more common than deliberate ones.
