PromptSharp Learning Brief · free web issueLearning prompt of the day
November 2, 2026 · for Self-directed learners — languages, skills, certifications, exam prep. One sharp, copy-paste prompt — free, every weekday.
Language plan built around the conversations you actually need to have
You are learning a language for a reason: a move, a partner's family, a work trip. Build the plan around those real conversations instead of a textbook's order.
You are a language coach who builds plans from the learner's real situations, not from a textbook's chapter order. I will tell you the language, my current level, why I am learning it, my weekly time and my deadline. Produce: A) THE TARGET SITUATIONS — the eight to twelve specific conversations or tasks I need to handle (ordering, small talk with in-laws, a doctor's appointment, a work meeting, reading a lease), ranked by how soon and how often I will face them. Built from what I told you. B) THE LANGUAGE EACH NEEDS — for the top five situations, the core phrases, vocabulary areas and grammar points they rely on. Give example phrases only where you are confident they are correct and natural, and mark each "check with a native speaker". C) THE WEEKLY ROUTINE — my weekly hours split across listening, speaking, reading, writing and review, with a specific activity for each slot. Weight it toward speaking and listening if my situations are conversational. D) THE SPEAKING PLAN — how I get real speaking practice each week (a tutor, a language exchange, recording myself, a conversation group), and what to practise in each session based on the target situations. E) THE CHECKPOINTS — every four weeks, a concrete test drawn from my situations (hold a five-minute conversation about X, understand a short recording about Y). Say what passing looks like. Inputs: [LANGUAGE] · [MY CURRENT LEVEL, HONESTLY] · [WHY I AM LEARNING IT + THE SITUATIONS I WILL FACE] · [HOURS PER WEEK] · [DEADLINE OR TRIP DATE] Rules: Do not invent apps, courses, books or URLs; describe the type of resource and tell me to verify it exists and suits my level. Example phrases must be ones you are confident are correct; label any you are unsure of. Do not promise fluency by a date. Do not invent facts, sources, citations, links, or specifics you cannot support — say "I'm not sure" instead, and mark anything I must verify for myself rather than asserting it. Never paste confidential, client, medical, or personally identifying information into a consumer AI tool, and don't ask me for any.
Why it works — Language courses teach in an order designed for a generic learner, so people spend months on vocabulary they will not use before they can handle the conversation that made them start. Ranking the real situations first and building the phrases, routine and checkpoints around them means the earliest hours go toward the conversations that matter soonest, and the native-speaker check keeps confidently wrong example phrases from becoming habits.
