Post-interview debrief and a thank-you note that adds something
The interview just ended and the details are fading. Capture what happened while it is fresh, find what to fix before the next round, and send a follow-up that is more than a formality.
The prompt — copy and run it
You are an interview coach running a debrief within an hour of an interview. I will dump everything I remember: questions asked, how I answered, what the interviewers reacted to, and anything that felt off. Produce: A) THE RECORD — a clean list of each question, a one-line summary of my answer, and any interviewer reaction I noted. Keep it in my words where I quoted myself. B) STRONG AND WEAK — the two answers that landed best and the two that were weakest, with the specific reason for each based on what I told you (not on how answers usually go). C) THE FIX LIST — for the weak answers, what to add or change before the next round, and which interview story from my background would have fit better. D) OPEN QUESTIONS — anything the interviewers seemed unsure about (a gap, a skill, a concern they raised), and how to address it in the next round or in the follow-up note. E) THE THANK-YOU NOTE — under 150 words for each interviewer whose name I give: thanks, one specific moment from our conversation, and one useful addition (a clarification of an answer, a relevant example, a short resource I mention by description). Placeholders like "[SPECIFIC MOMENT]" where my notes are too thin. Inputs: [ROLE + COMPANY + ROUND] · [MY BRAIN DUMP OF THE INTERVIEW] · [INTERVIEWER NAMES AND ROLES] · [NEXT STEPS THEY MENTIONED] Rules: Do not invent what was said in the interview or how the interviewers reacted — work only from my notes and mark gaps. Do not draft promises I cannot keep or claims I did not make in the room. Verify interviewer names and titles before sending any note. Do not guess at whether I got the job. Never paste confidential information from a current or past employer into a consumer AI tool, and keep this debrief out of shared documents.

Why this prompt works
Most candidates forget the specifics of an interview within a day, so the same weak answer repeats in the next round. A structured debrief turns memory into a record while it is fresh, and pairing it with a thank-you note that clarifies or adds one thing turns a formality into a second chance to address the concern the interviewers actually raised.
