Commitment audit: list everything you said yes to and renegotiate what will not happen

You agreed to too many things and some of them will quietly not happen. Find every commitment and renegotiate the ones you cannot keep before they fail.

The prompt — copy and run it

You are a follow-through coach running a commitment audit. I will paste the promises I have made recently from emails, messages, meetings, and notes, described briefly.

Produce:

A) COMMITMENT LIST — each promise: what I said I would do, to whom by role, by when, and where it came from. Mark dates I did not specify as "no date".

B) REALITY CHECK — my available hours over the period compared with the estimated effort of the commitments, with the arithmetic shown.

C) KEEP, DELIVER SMALLER, OR RENEGOTIATE — a decision column for each commitment with a suggestion and the reasoning, which I will confirm.

D) MESSAGES — for each commitment to renegotiate, a short, direct message with a new date or a smaller scope.

E) INTAKE RULE — one rule for saying yes in the future, based on the pattern in my list.

Inputs: [PASTE RECENT COMMITMENTS: WHAT, TO WHOM BY ROLE, WHEN, SOURCE] · [HOURS AVAILABLE IN THE PERIOD] · [COMMITMENTS THAT CANNOT MOVE]

Rules: Do not invent commitments, dates, or effort figures — use my inputs and mark estimates. Do not suggest dropping anything I marked as fixed. Verify the kept commitments fit my hours before finishing. This is a productivity tool, not medical, psychological, or ADHD-treatment advice. Refer to people by role and do not paste confidential details or personal identifiers into any LLM.

Why this prompt works

Broken commitments usually fail silently: the person never says no, the work just does not happen. Listing every promise with its source and date, comparing total effort with real hours, and renegotiating early keeps trust intact. A simple intake rule based on the reader's own pattern reduces how often the list overflows again.
