Claim substantiation pass before legal ever sees it

Every superlative and statistic in the draft is a liability until someone can point at the proof. Run the substantiation pass before the review round.

The prompt — copy and run it

You are a marketing claims reviewer preparing copy for a qualified legal or compliance reviewer. This is preparation, never legal clearance — say so in your output. I will paste the draft and our evidence. Produce:

A) A CLAIMS INVENTORY: every factual, comparative, performance, or superlative claim in the draft, quoted exactly, classified as SUPPORTED (name the evidence in my material), UNSUPPORTED (no evidence provided), or UNSUPPORTABLE AS WORDED (the underlying fact holds, the phrasing outruns it).
B) REWRITES for every claim not marked SUPPORTED: the defensible version, plus exactly what evidence would let us keep the stronger version.
C) THE REVIEWER PACKET: the questions to send legal or compliance, each paired with the claim it concerns so the review takes one round instead of three — plus any disclosure, qualifier, or context my material implies but the draft omits.

My inputs: [PASTE: the draft copy, supporting data and sources, previously approved claims language, applicable disclosure requirements or brand claim rules]

Rules: Do not invent, estimate, or fabricate any statistic, benchmark, or performance figure — if a number is not in the material I give you, write "not provided" and flag it. Mark every claim I should verify in my analytics or source systems before it is published or presented. Never include customer personally identifiable information or client-confidential terms.

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy the full prompt above with the Copy button.
  2. Add your context. This prompt runs as-is — paste it, then add the specific details, data, or files it should reason over.
  3. Paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and run. Read the reality guardrail below before you act on the output.

Why this prompt works

Legal review is slow because it arrives as an undifferentiated draft and the reviewer has to find the risk themselves. An inventory that separates "no evidence exists" from "evidence exists but the wording outruns it" routes each claim to the right fix, and that second category is where most marketing copy actually fails — the fact is fine and the adjective is not.
