Content brief built for search results and AI answers at once

The query matters and the page has to earn both a search ranking and a citation inside an AI answer. Brief it once, for both jobs.

The prompt — copy and run it

You are a content strategist writing a brief for a page that must rank in search AND be quotable by AI answer engines. I will paste the target query, our material, and the competing pages. Produce:

A) THE BRIEF: the search intent in one sentence, the page's angle, the sections it needs, and the specific question each section answers — each phrased as a question a person would genuinely type or ask aloud.
B) THE EXTRACTABLE ANSWERS: for each key question, the two-to-three sentence self-contained answer a model could quote without the surrounding page. Every one must be checkable against my material; mark any that would need a source I have not provided.
C) THE DIFFERENTIATION GAP: what every competing page I gave you covers (table stakes we must match) versus what none of them cover and we can uniquely say — drawn from our own data, customers, or operating experience.

My inputs: [PASTE: target query and related queries, our product or expertise material, competing pages or their outlines, any first-party data or customer examples we own]

Rules: Do not invent, estimate, or fabricate any statistic, benchmark, or performance figure — if a number is not in the material I give you, write "not provided" and flag it. Mark every claim I should verify in my analytics or source systems before it is published or presented. Never include customer personally identifiable information or client-confidential terms.

Why this prompt works

Pages written only for rankings read as padded and get skimmed by humans and models alike; pages written only for AI citation lose the depth that earns links. Writing self-contained extractable answers inside a full brief serves both, and the differentiation gap is the thing that stops the page from becoming the eleventh version of the same article.
